Scheduling of Appointments
Placing orthodontic appliances requires approximately 1.5 hours. Monthly adjustment appointments take from 15-30 minutes. When major changes are made, appointments will be somewhat longer.
Since many of our patients are school-aged, it is necessary to schedule long appointments early in the day. We will do everything we can to cooperate with your child's class schedule, but we hope you understand why some of the appointments must be during school hours.
Once appliances are placed, it is very important to keep scheduled appointments. If for some reason you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately so we may schedule another one for you at a convenient time to keep your treatment completion on target. This courtesy also makes it possible to give your appointment to another patient who may be in need of prompt treatment.
It is very important to continue to see your general dentist during the course of your orthodontic treatment. We recommend that our patients have their teeth checked every six months.
Fees and Payments
In order to make payment for orthodontic treatment convenient, our office has a policy that allows the fee for orthodontic treatment to be paid on a monthly basis over an extended period of time.
Insurance
We are pleased to work with you if you have dental insurance that includes orthodontics. At the start of treatment, please provide us with an insurance claim form with your portion completed and signed. Also it is very helpful if you bring in your benefits booklet so that we can determine the amount and terms of your coverage.
We are happy to submit your claims to the insurance carrier. It is important for you to understand that we have no contractual relationship with insurance companies. Our financial agreement is with you, and if your company of the carrier changes or cancels the policy or does not abide by the expected terms, the responsibility for the fee for treatment remains yours.
